Arietta was founded in 1996 by Fritz & Caren Hatton in partnership with winemaker John Kongsgaard and his wife Maggy. The partnership was born of a shared passion for fine wine and classical music. And since 2006, Andy Erickson, one of America's most celebrated winemakers, has crafted these legendary ultra-premium limited-production Bordeaux-style blends that have become one the standards in truly exceptional Napa

The word “Arietta” is attributed to the great classical composer Beethoven. It was part of the original manuscript (the Arietta movement) in Beethoven’s last piano sonata, Opus 111. The label on each bottle depicts a couple of bars from this sonata.
