Normandie 'Anno 1693' Bordeaux-Style Red Blend 2016

A rich, elegant, complex, and well-balanced Bordeaux-style red blend from the Normandie Estate, established in 1693. Anno 1693 is the second red blend from the Estate; it is the natural extension to the iconic and legendary Eisen & Viljoen. Anno 1693 was created with all of the passion and expertise that Normandie is renowned for.

Varietal: 70% Cabernet and 30% Merlot

From Normandie's estate-owned vines and onsite cellar. After destemming, the selected grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks with daily pump overs. The wine is aged for 24 months in old French oak barrels prior to bottling.

Tasting Notes: The wine has a deep ruby colour with aromas of ripe berries. Along with the scent of pencil shavings, this red blend is packed with a mixture of red and blackberries. The palate is flavours of ripe red cherries with a spicy undertone. It has delicate notes of oak, pencil shavings, cassis and red fruits. The tannins are gripping on the mid-palate with lingering ripe fruit and a balanced after taste.
