Castiglion Del Bosco Brunello di Montalcino 2019
Description
Varietal: 100% Sangiovese
Produced with a careful selection from vineyards located in the Capanna area of the estate, which lie at an altitude of 350 meters facing south, with clay shale and gravel-pebble soild (a terroir ideally suited for Sangiovese). The influences of the sea are felt in this area with hot, dry summers and constant winds that remove moisture. The richness of the ”galestro“ stone in the soil gives the wine its unique aroma, complexity and structure. Aged from 24 months in French oak.

Tasting Notes: Displaying aromas of sweet fruit, plump cherry, cured tobacco and perfumed redwood, the 2019 Brunello di Montalcino has a savory side that is nicely folded into a generous core of pronounced fruit. Also expect some cedar & spice as secondary notes that lead into a palate that feels smooth and soft with velvety tannins. Structured, but showing beautiful drinkability with wonderful balance and form.

About Castiglion del Bosco: One of the most historic producers of Brunello di Montalcino, the winery at Castiglion del Bosco was a founding member of the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino in 1967. The harvest, a two-stage hand selection process and barrel-aging in the 4,000-square-meter (43,033 sq. ft.) winery, is a ritual supervised by enologist Cecilia Leoneschi.
With 150 acres of the estate's 5,000 acres dedicated to vineyards, Castiglion del Bosco is one of the most prominent producers in Montalcino, both for the history of the estate and for its size, unchanged in the last 400 years.
