This week, we have the distinct honor of featuring the wines of one of Rioja's most prolific estates: Marqués de Murrieta. Founded in 1852 by Don Luciano Murrieta, this family estate is the first documented producer of Rioja wines and the first to bottle and export them from Spain. Don Luciano’s Bordeaux training had a lasting impact, introducing the groundbreaking use of oak-aging in Spain that forever changed the way Rioja wines are crafted.
